The Knitting Circle is the first book I have read by Ann Hood and I will certainly look for other books by her. I really enjoyed the book, which is based on Ann Hoods own story of the loss of her child and the group of women she befriends at the knitting circle in an attempt to save her life/5().

Didn't really dig The Knitting from being relentlessly depressing, which I'm okay with, I'm bothered by he inconsistencies and anachronisms (it took 68 pages to firmly establish that Mary is 57 and had Stella when she was 52 - I spent most of the first three score pages trying to reconcile the time line, thinking the present was the '80s, then trying to figure out where it was /5.
